Layouts

Layouts are a fantastic way to make your crafting easier!

Did you happen to notice that I used the same layout for both the Guava, Ginger Blossom Birthday Card and the Cutie Pie Punch Box Friend Card? That is an effective and easy way to broaden your stamping skills and designs. Notice that they are the same exact layout with different colors, CS, stamp sets and embellishments. It changes totally changes the look!

So, when you are feeling dry for ideas, fall back on one of your favorite layouts to get you started. That way you don't need to come up with something brand new every time! I do this with my scrapbooking, too! Why reinvent the wheel, so to speak???
Here is the basic layout that I used. Leave me a comment or send me an email to tell me about your layout experience. I would love to hear about and/or see your successes!

Guava, Ginger Blossom Birthday Card

I just love the look of this card. It looks fancy [because of the DSP], but is SO easy to do! I wanted to show you how easy it is to use the Amazing to Zany Stamp Set in your card making. I love this set for scrapbooking mainly, but it works well for cards, too! Check out the catalog and e-mail me to order it while you can, as it is retiring.

Did you notice across the bottom of the card? I stamped the words "delightful, splendid, terrific, amazing, fabulous" and filled in the dots with a Ruby Red Stampin' Write Marker. This set is VERY versatile!

Tips:

  • Crimp the 2"x4" piece of Ruby Red for texture
  • Score, fold up and adhere 1/2" to get the stripes at the bottom of the 4"x4" DSP.
  • I didn't bother to punch a whole in the tag, but adhered it to appear so.
  • Dirty up the "happy birthday" Groovy Guava square with your Ruby Red ink pad
  • Tie your ribbon and then add two extra pieces. I tie directly to the ribbon. Some others would tie separately and then use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere.

One Sheet Box Template

I just love these cute little One Sheet Boxes! And, they are so easy to make! I made these two for the Stamp Camp I am having today. I just love how they came out. I used the VersaMarker and the Pastels to get a very soft look with the images. To make your own you'll need the following supplies:

· Paper cutter with scoring tool
· Bone folder
· Cardstock - one sheet of 8 1/2" x 11
· Additional cardstock for main image
· Stamps
· Ink
· Ribbon
· Cropodile or Double Rectangle or Circle Punch

Step-by-Step

  1. Score sheet of cardstock on the short side at 2-1/2", turn 90 degrees and score at 4-1/2", turn and score at 2-1/2", and turn and score at 4-1/2".
  2. Prefold along score lines several times both ways, or step three will be difficult.
  3. Looking at the scored corner rectangle, bring the horizontal fold to vertical fold to create a diagonal crease in the corner rectangle. Do this for each corner.
  4. Use a bone folder to really make the diagonal folds "sharp" and easier to fold the sheet into a box.
  5. Stamp your cardstock.
  6. Prefold the box by inverting the diagonal folds towards the box center.
  7. Stamp center image and accent and adhere to box front.
  8. Adhere the box so it will stand w/out falling apart.
  9. Punch the holes for your ribbon and thread ribbon through both holes.
  10. Tie the ribbon in front and the box is complete.

Side By Side Template

It has been pouring buckets today! It is drab and bleak out. However, with my daughter home sick and snoozing, I was able to stamp a bunch of cards using this template.

Basic Instructions: Stamp the right side of the gift card [5-1/2' x 4-1/4"] with a pattern using the same color ink as the CS. Do the same for the 2-1/8" x 5-1/2" piece of CS. Open the card and punch with the RECTANGLE HAND PUNCH on the left side near the center . Thread your ribbon through. Adhere your 2-1/8" x 5-1/2" CS to gift card. Tie ribbon and center knot. Decorate as you want.

Check out my samples and create your own! Have a great day!!!
