Earn Free Hostess Merchandise

Dear Stampers,

I wanted to let you know that I am placing a last minute before Christmas stampin' order Tuesday evening.

*Is there anything that you meant to order for yourself or someone else?
*Did you hint to your family about wanting stampin' stuff, but have a feeling that they didn't call me?
*Did you forget something for that project you have been working on? Well, here you go!

This is your last chance before Christmas to place your order and have it arrive on time. How? I plan to place the order with Express 2 day delivery, which is extra. However, if I can wrangle up TEN or more orders before tomorrow night, then we could split the Express Shipping cost at only $2 extra per person! Wow! That Express Shipping is deal is unheard of, and you could get your order by Friday at the latest!

Also, I plan to give away all the HOSTESS BENEFITS! For every $20 spent, you will get your name placed in the drawing! With the possibility of free merchandise AND at least a Level One Hostess Set, how can you resist!?
  • So, replenish your cardstock;
  • Purchase those Stampin' Write Markers you have been wanting;
  • Stock up on SNAIL ink refills, brads or ribbon;
  • Or, buy that stamp set for your best friend!
Whatever you decide, please email or call in your order by 9pm Tuesday night [12/14].  PLEASE DO NOT PLACE AN ONLINE ORDER...this time.  :-)

NOTE: If you want me to call or email a friend or relative to prompt an order, please provide me with their name and contact information. I am happy to help them with Christmas shopping! However, please also provide me with a Wish List [see attached], so I can lead them in the right direction for you.

I look forward to hearing from you and Merry Christmas!

Happy Stamping,
Julie

Christmas Cards

So, at Christmastime I have the toughest time deciding on what I want to do for my Christmas cards.  I make endless samples for myself, my customers, workshops and classes.  I use them in my Big Christmas Stamp-A-Stack.  I cut endless cards for other people, but when it comes down to it, I CAN NEVER DECIDE!!!  I am currently at that place again this year.  I know...you are saying "Seriously, Julie, THIS is what you are worried about?"  Well, no not really, but as you know stamping is a passion that I have!  I just want to get it right.  Oh, and then there is getting the a-okay sign from my husband.  Hahaha!

Here are some of the latest samples:

Tree Trimming Card -- I did this one at Convention in August!  It was a favorite of all of my SAS attendees!  Isn't is so simple and beautiful?

Make Merry Wreath Card -- This was one of the Make & Takes at the Portland, Maine Regionals in October.  I love the non-traditional Certainly Celery as the green with the hint of Real Red popped off the wreath and in the ribbon.   LOVE IT!

So, as you can see, there is much to choose from, and those are just a few of my samples!  Enjoy!

Thankful

This week is a time of Thanksgiving, and I give God thanks for the many blessings and trials [yes, even the trials] that have come my way.  This has been a tough year emotionally for me.  Why?  I don't know.  But, what I do know is that I am blessed.  God reminds me every day of His unfailing love through any means necessary.  He speaks His love to me where I am at, can hear and accept it....a hug from my son, the smile on my daughter's face, the graciousness of my husband to know when I need a hug verses to be given some space, a friend's caring and persistant calls to check in on me, my customers excitement to the my creations...  For these and many other things, I am thankful this year.  God is so good.

Take time in this busy season to remember why you are thankful, and if perchance you are having a tough time coming up with something.  Just stop, be still and listen for God to speak to your heart.  He is trying to get through to you.  If you cannot hear Him, just breathe.

Wow...that came out a lot more solemn than I anticipated.  Truely, I am thankful!

Simple Cardinal Christmas, Petals-A-Plenty Embossing Folder & Shimmer Spray

Hi Stampers -- I have as of late been obsessed with the Petals-A-Plenty embossing folder from the 2009 Holiday Mini Catalog on page 21.  It is what makes those fun little poinsetta flowers around the image of my cardinal.  Oh....so....fun!  I have seen many takes on how obtain the oval void in the card front.  I made an oval template out of my husband's disgarded comic book backboards.  It took a while to cut, and, though I am pleased with my inginuity, I decided that it was not the best way to get this look.  My favorite tutorial on this technique is done by Patty Bennett.  She does it with a thin wooden template.  Go check it out!  I went out and bought my own for $1.19!  Big spender...I know!

Another favorite new "toy" is Shimmer Paint!  Oh my...if you haven't tried this fabulous new bling for your creations, you don't know what you are missing!  Shimmery is the key word.  LOVE IT!  At the Portland, Maine SU! Regional, I saw Shimmer Spray for the first time.  One of the demonstrators had done this technique on her cards, and I just fell in love with it!  She was kind enough to give me a quick rundown on how to acheive this SHIMMERY look.  [I know it is hard to see on the card, but trust me it is there!]

HOW TO MAKE SHIMMER SPRAY

  • Simply take Hydrogen Peroxide and a small spray bottle.

  • Fill the spray bottle with the Hydrogen Peroxide.

  • Dip the sprayer tube in the Shimmer Paint and then into the peroxide 5 or 6 times until the peroxide is shimmery.

  • Spray your cardstock and let dry for 5-10 minutes.  DONE!

Sweet Treat Cup Sunflower Card

O.K., so, I am well aware that Christmas is just around the corner and Thanksgiving is even closer.  However, I finally figured out what this stamp is for out of the 2009 Holiday Mini Catalog and just HAD to share this card with you.

The Sweet Centers stamp set has six stamps in it:  a "hot air balloon", an "ornament top", a "heart", an "'Eek You're Sweet' Square", "leaves", and .....what is that other thing?!?  My husband and I pondered it for quite some time and came up with some of the weirdest ideas...."A tongue?  Nah!  Stampin' Up! wouldn't do that!"  Sheesh!  So, I put the set away for a bit and pulled it out again before my Mini Catalog Stamp Camp in September.  Ahha!  I ran upstairs exclaiming, "It's a PETAL!  A PETAL!  Hence the leaves, duh!"  My husband stared at me like I had lost my mind.  Phew!  Took me forever to figure it out, but I finally got it.  I know, I know....not too bright....or perhaps you wondered what it was, too.  Hahaha!

Anywho, if you have not had the chance to view the 2009 Holiday Mini Catalog, please email me at julietupper@gmail.com and I will send you a FREE copy!  It is fabulous!

So, here is my Sweet Treat Cup Sunflower Card.  I just LOVE it.  I stamped the petal from point to point around a 1-3/4"Circle Template that I made with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch that coordinates nicely with the Sweet Treat Cups.  Then, I stamped it again layering the petal stamp in between two stamped petal images.  This gives the double flower look.  LOVE IT!  Fill your Sweet Treat Cup with Mini Chocolate Chips.  The only thing that I forgot to do was make a "door" inorder for the receiver to get the chocolate chips out.  Oh well!  Live and learn!

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Fold your gift card. Adhere Chocolate Chip CS. Tie ribbon.
2. In Garden Green Ink, stamp “leaves” on Old Olive CS. Cut out and set aside.
3. In Summer Sun Ink, stamp “petal” SIX OR SEVEN times in a circle. [Tip: Use the “Circle Template” to line up the curve of the petal.] LAYER “petal” stamp in between two flower petals and stamp again to create a fuller flower image. Trim the flower.
4. Add Dotto to the back of the flower. Line up, stick on the Glass Mat, and cut a 1 ¾” circle in the middle.
5. Adhere the “flower” on top of the Sweet Treat Cup. [Tip: The remaining Dotto should keep it in place. If not, add some SNAIL to the edge of the flower.] Pile the chocolate chips onto the Chocolate Chip CS. Adhere “flower” by pulling off the white liner and centering over the Chocolate Chip CS.
6. Add leaves with SNAIL.

My Digital Studio CARDS

O.K., so Stampin' Up!s NEW My Digital Studio absolutely ROCKS!  I am so excited to have on the go creating with me no matter where I go!  I love all the choices that can be made with it.

Let's talk about CARDS with MDS.  Love the template ideas.  Love the images.  LOVE IT!  Here is the card that SU! presents in the MDS commercial.  Yes [in case you are wondering] I really did watch it and replay it a bunch of times to figure this card out!  Really love the colors, the text, the layout.  Super easy to duplicate, but I love turning this creation into a Hybrid card...like they do in the MDS Commercial.  So, here it is!

Oh, and, click here to view the MDS Commercial.  YOU HAVE GOT TO GET THIS PROGRAM!!!

Lovely As A Tree Matted Card

Last year's Stamp-A-Stack included this fabulous card, too!  I love the matted snowflakes behind the tree!  So, pretty!  O.K., so I got the idea for this card off Beate John's blog last year.  She credits her inspiration from Julie Buhler's card.  Both ladies have fabulous blogs and ideas!

Comments: Fold Whisper White CS in half. Adhere Handsome Hunter CS to the card front. Lay the ¾” Border Template that I made over the Kraft CS and wheel with the Snowflakes. Then, sponge with White Craft ink in the center and remove template when done. Ink the tree with Handsome Hunter Classic ink and use a Blender Pen and Chocolate Chip Ink Pad to color over the stem. Stamp it on the right hand side of the rectangle. Stamp “Merry Christmas” in Chocolate Chip by using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to help you line it up. Using the Paper Piercing Tool, Guide and Mat from the Crafter’s Tool Kit, pierce a border around the white rectangle. Layer onto Chocolate Chip CS. From provided scrap CS, punch 1” Chocolate Chip circle and SNAIL to the upper left hand side. Using the Cropodile punch 3/16” hole and set a Jumbo Eyelet. Tie your White Taffeta Ribbon through the hole and adhere layer to card with SNAIL.

Watercolor Die-cut Snowflake Chunky Glitter Card

My Customers made this glittery card at last years BIG Christmas Stamp-A-Stack.  Looks hard, but is really easy!  NOTE:  The word stamp is from Punches Three which is a retired Hostess set from the last catalog.  If you do not have it, feel free to replace it with another saying stamp.  Enjoy!

Ink “A very merry…” by brushing Night of Navy Marker across the image and stamp on provided scrap Whisper White CS. Punch out with the Scalloped Square Punch. Brag Book Album - In Memorium

The Manhattan Flowers stamp set coupled with a saying from the Refuge and Strength stamp set are what I used to make this Brag Book Album.  I have posted brag books before, so Click Here to view them. if you want to see some different designs and directions.

If you are wondering what I put inside this one, it is full of pictures of someone dear to my family...Great Grandma Emily.  She was my husband's "adopted Canadian grandmother" and she passed away recently after living a wonderful life.  Long story short, but she and her husband ended up being just like grandparents to Erik while he was attending high school at Grenville Christian College.  Hence, she was given a special coursage and escorted down the aisle to a special seat at our wedding over eight years ago; we had the chance to visit with her and introduce her to our children on two seperate occassions in Canada; and, today we celebrate her life in memorial.  I didn't know her for too long, but she was a dear woman and I am sure she is in Heaven with the Lord today!

O.K., at any rate, Erik is off to the memorial today and asked me to pull together some pictures of our Canada trips for Emily's children.  So, that is why I made the Brag Books.  I hope they speak comfort to her family.  It was a blessing to know her!

Thanks Birdie Card - Dry Embossing with SU!'s Texturz Plates

Fun & Fast Notes is really such a versitale stamp set, but rarely do I stamp with it!  I really should change that up!

Not sure if you can see it or not, but the Basic Black CS is dry embossed with SU!'s Flower Texturz Plate [one of many].  Here is a tip to getting a super good impression.  Ready?  I learned this at Convention!  Wait for it.....

Spritz the CS with a bit of water BEFORE you run it through the Big Shot and the impression will come out super clean and extra deep!  "Water!?!  Seriously?  That is the big secret?"  Yes, indeed-ee-do!  Give it a go!

1. Fold your Whisper White CS in half and crease with the Bone Folder.
2. Use the Flower Texturz Plate to Dry Emboss “simple flowers” on the Basic Black CS with the Big Shot. Build your “Big Shot Sandwich” from bottom to top as follows: Multipurpose Platform on TAB 1, Textured Plate, Basic Black CS, Silicone Rubber and Impressions Pad. Adhere to gift card.
3. Stamp “birdie” in Black Staz On Ink onto Whisper White CS. Clean stamp with Staz On Cleaner.
4. Color in the “birdie” image with the following Stampin’ Write Markers:
        • Flower – Bermuda Bay, Stem – Old Olive, Bird – Crushed Curry, Beak & Feet – Pumpkin Pie
5. Layer onto Bermuda Bay CS.
6. Punch the flower center with the 1/16” Circle Punch and insert an Earth Elements Brad – More Mustard. Adhere to Old Olive CS with three Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adhere to gift card.
7. SNAIL, fold in half & trim a 2½” piece of Black Gingham Ribbon. Adhere under Bermuda Bay CS.

Rich Razzleberry Lemonade Card

Oh my, oh my, RICH RAZZLEBERRY pie!  I just LOVE the names of the new In Colors for this year...as well as the new In Colors themselves.  ;-)  Say them with me....aw, come on....they are so much fun to say!
Dusty Durango
Rich Razzleberry
Melon Mambo
Crushed Curry
Soft Suede
Bermuda Bay
Can't you just imagine sitting in a room and having the job of coming up with the names?  Oh the pressure, the fun!  But, whomever does it, does it soooooo well!  Hats off to you!  [I would love to see some of the names that are disgarded...wouldn't you?...just curious...]

Anywho, here is an easy card.  I just adore the new Razzleberry Lemonade DSP.  So fabulous!  It dresses up this card quickly, and, coupled with the Razzle Dazzle and Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Sets, makes a quick addition to your card collection.  Switch up the colors for a different look.  Give it a try and let me know what you came up with at julietupper@gmail.com  OR leave a comment on this post.

1. Fold your Rich Razzleberry CS in half and crease with the Bone Folder.
2. SNAIL Razzleberry Lemonade DSP onto the gift card.
3. Use the Cropodile to punch a 3/16” circle approx. 1” UP & 1” IN on the left side of DSP.
4. Wrap the ½” Rich Razzleberry Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon around the FRONT of the gift card. Push the ends through the hole in the BACK. Now, knot ends around the ribbon on the card front.
5. Stamp the “flower” image on the bottom right in Rich Razzleberry Ink.
6. Stamp “friend to friend” in Basic Black Ink.
